What is the best credit card for someone with no credit history?

Heidi asked:

I’m wanting to establish good credit but I don’t know where to start. I don’t want high interest and I know if you don’t have credit history, your credit is bad. Please tell me which credit card I should get. Thanks.

What credit card is best for a first credit card, and you have limited history?

Tay asked:

I just turned eighteen at the end of February, so I have limited credit history.
I was wondering what credit card is used for building credit, and would be the best choice for a person getting they’re first credit card.

How many credit cards is too much to affect your credit score?

ronnin72 asked:

I am going to ask another question regarding which CC should I add to my credit card profile to add to my rewards. I have excellent credit, pay my balance in full each month, and I use my CC to pay for everything I can to rack up points/miles etc.

I am at a point where I want to increase my points and miles so there are some options. The question is, what is too much. I basically share a VISA with my wife, and have an older VISA that i keep. I realize that you should keep older credit cards for history. I want to add at least one AM/EX either the Starwood points, or the Delta Miles. I also might switch our Cap1 card to the signature to get 2 points for every $1 spent, instead of 1.25 for $1. That is a new card, not a switch. And recently, I have received letters for UNITED miles (20,000 bonus) and AA Miles (21,000 Bonus). I would love to use those just to add to my miles on those flights. Could I add 3-4 cards without hurting my excellent credit? I will not rack up debt.

How does someone build credit without a credit card?

Li asked:

I am thinking of those who do not have a credit card and pay for everything by check and cash. How is their credit rated? Is it based on a loan for example (car, student, etc.) and what if it is their first time applying for such a loan? How is their credit history looked at then? What if someone is applying for an apartment rental and does now own a credit card?

I have always wondered this.

Also, some people, after having paid off their debt, switch to using cash or check only, but apparently no activity at all on your credit card accounts isn’t good either.

Any input?

What can a prospective employer see in a credit check done to a prospective employee?

What I mean is can they actually go into detail with your accounts, etc.? OR do they only see you “credit rating” or “score”?? Someone with experience as an employer or manager, please help me out with this one. I am going to have a credit check done on me for a job, and my credit if considered “fair” because I don’t have a long credit history, but I need a little info.Submited by:djc07

What are my chances of getting a home loan?

I have a credit score of about 670. I owe about $4500 on my car, and I plan on having it paid off before I try to get this loan. My credit history will go back 2 years when I wish to get this loan. I plan on asking for about $60,000. Any other questions, ask and I’ll be more than happy to answer.
